Social Media Final

This year I have explored a lot of web tools I didn't even know existed. Even though most days I didn't want to do some of the stuff we did in here, I really did learn a lot about all the web tools and things we talked about. I learned there about all the different things you can do on Google other than just using it for a search engine. I learned all the different avatar websites you can do. On Firefox, there is a website you can go to and change the persona. It's very cool!!! We also learned about Favicon, the little picture by your web address. That was also very neat! We explored websites were you can bookmark your sites and access them from any computer when you log into your account on that website. On photobucket we made a slide show and posted them on our blogs.

Imagination Cubed

Imagination Cubed is like an online place for drawing things. There is a pen you can use, you can change the thickness of it and the design it will draw. There are stamps that you can use. There are smiley faces, hearts, swirls, flowers, people, stars, speech bubbles, pluses, and clouds you can stamp onto the page. You can draw lines and change the thickness. You can change the thickness or size of anything you draw, type, or stamp. You can also put text on the picture. Another thing you can do is change the background. You can invite someone to draw with you, then you can chat with that person.

Template

On google docs you can go through and choose from thousands of templates to use. There are different categories you can choose from. There are tempts I can use to help me with different projects I have to do for school. I need a brochure for my biology homework, and I found a template I can us. Templates are very cool and an efficient way for you to get something done. They are an easier way to get things done with out having to design what you need yourself.

Firefox Add on's

Firefox Ad on's are really cool. I explored them and I found many things I was able to put onto my Firefox. There are games and all kinds of cool things you can add. I added a game called Destroy the web. It's where you can go onto any web page, click the game, and blow up the page! There's many ad on's that deal with language support, privacy and security, communication, shopping, and many more. I also downloaded a drum thing, so if I'm ever bored I can just sit there and play the drums by using the keyboard. All though some of the sounds don't sound like drums at all. I would say to explore these ad on's and see what you can find. You never know what you will find!!

Favicon

Favicon is a website where you  can design a little icon that you can set as the little picture by your website. Like on blogger it has the white B in a red square and you can design one or upload your own personal picture and set it at it when people visit your blog. It is very cool!!! Domain

A domain is a web address you can make yourself for a certain amount of money a year. It's easy to do. It's good to use if you have a really long web address for your blog or website and you want to make it shorter. GoDaddy.com is a good website to use. It's cheaper than most other websites that you can use to purchase domains from. If I was going to have a website that I would be using a lot and it had a long hard to remember URL I would most definitely buy a domain to use.

Drummerworld: Daniel Adair

Drummerworld: Daniel Adair: "I started playing drums at the age of 13. My Father was a drummer and he had a set of 1967 Ludwigs in storage. For some reason I set them up and started to bang around on them, I really didn't have a clue what I was doing. That night I watched some drummers on music videos and it started to make sense how the drum kit worked. I listened to an album my brother had called 'Hemispheres' by Rush. It was intense! I heard music differently all of a sudden and I had to learn how to drum like that! I became obsessed with the drums, air drumming in my room all night and playing along to albums all day. I taught myself in the beginning, learning all the licks from John Bonham, Neil Peart, Tim 'Herb' Alexander, Lars Ulrich, and many others."

Bibme

Bibme is a website that helps you make a workscited page. You can look up almost any book, magazine, website, etc., and it will get all the information you need to create the works cited page. It's very easy to use. There are tons of websites to help you with works cited pages, but I would say to use this one.

Firefox Personas

Firefox personas are wonderful! It lets you design your toolbar with what ever picture you want. You can have animated picture or still pictures. There are tons to choose from and you can change them when ever. You can have it fit the holidays that are near. You can upload your own images and design your own. It's a really fun thing to do!!!

HiStats

This is a website where you can add your website and put a counter on your website to see how many people have visited your web page. You can chose from many different designs and shapes and stuff. You can add animated ones or ones that are just plain. It doesn't show you where people are from who view your site though.

Blogger Gadgets

On Blogger you can add tons of gadgets. There are some about news, games, weather, fun stuff, quotes, and so much more. There are HUNDREDS of gadgets you can add!!  I use the stats gadget and I can see what country people are from who are viewing my page. People who view your page can see all your cool gadgets! There are music gadgets that provide musical enrichment to the widest possible audiences.

Stats

This is a gadget that you can put onto your blogger to see how many people have visited your blog. You can also view what country the people who have viewed it are from. You can also see what type of computer they used to see your profile. You can also see the URL of the people who have visited your blog. It is very awesome and interesting to see who all is looking at your blog and where they are from.

Word Clouds

A word cloud is something you can put words together on and the more you type the word the bigger it will appear. You can use a word cloud during a speech to help you remember your main topics. You can make random ones about your friends and family. Here are some websites you can use:

Meez Room

The meez room is where you can design and personalize your house. Its a fun thing to mess around with. You can add friends and have them confirm you as a friend, then you can go visit their rooms and chat with other users in the room. It's a fun thing to do to just pass the time away.

Diigo, Delicious, Symbaloo

These are some Social Bookmarking tools we have been using. These are tools that you can use to help you keep your bookmarks organized. You can tag you bookmarks to help others find your websites when searching for certain words. On Diigo you can use the highlight tool and highlight something important and it will automatically bookmark it for you. You can also add sticky notes, they are personal thoughts about what you think about the website or what you posted. On Symbaloo you can add your bookmark and it will show up on your homepage. You can have pictures to represent them and change the colors of the boxes.  Delicious you can add all your bookmarks and tag them so they are easier to find. These are very cool sites that are useful and you can access them from any computer.

Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to organize, store, manage and search for bookmarks of resources online.  When you click on your delicious button the site is added to your personal list and the delicious library. By using common tags it is easier to make tagged pages easier to find by other people searching for it.

Talking Messages

E*Trade BabyMail is something we messed around with. It was fun. You can choose from one of the baby pictures they have for you to use or you can upload your own picture. You can make the mouth move when it talks and make the eyes blink. It's alot of fun!

Textanim

This is a website where you can type in what ever you want and change the font and size. It will make your text animated and you can change the animation design. You can use this on your presentation or website or just what ever you want it for.

Meez (avatar)

The Meez website is kind of like Voki but with a lot more choices. On Meez you can choose from tons of different clothes, hair styles, animations, and backgrounds. You can also change the color of some of the clothing and most of the hair styles. There are so many more options to make it look more like you. When joining you get 2,000 points in which you can buy different things. You are able to play games to get more points.

I had a lot of fun messing around and going through all the options there are. I like Meez more than Voki just because there are so many more choices. I'm sure you will have fun too!

Voki

Avatars are something that you can make to look like you instead of using a real picture of yourself.  You can do many things different things on Voki.com. You can change the hair, lip, skin, and eye color. You can also change the clothing and different accessories. You can make one with cats, dogs, human, anime, and famous people. You can make the face, lips, and nose different sizes. You can change the background and the voices of the people.

I had fun making mine.  It's fun to just mess around.

I use Facebook, Picnik, and google most the time.
I am hoping that I can learn about more websites and tools to do more things on the internet.
